Best of Show

As an artist you have good days and bad days in the studio, you have shows that you get rejected from and ones you get accepted into, and its either feast or famine when it comes to art sales.

I had a happy surprise while picking up my two clay sculptures from the Statewide Clay Competition today from the Lansing Art Gallery. I learned that my "Wrestler Trophy: Red vs Blue" had won best of show. While no one had bothered to tell me the whole time the show was up, the award was a nice chunk of change sponsored by Michigan State University.

This brings me great validation-as an artist, since earlier this summer I was rejected from the Muskegon Regional, and my name in American Craft Magazine was spelled wrong. Today, I am in quiet celebration as I cash my check.
